Should I be running cheato and my skimmer while dosing Algaefix?

I am trying to beat a multitude of algaes that have overrun my tank. Should I turn off my skimmer and/or take out my Cheato while dosing Algaefix?

I assume if you want your algae to live you should remove it. You can probably keep it alive by putting into a bucket that gets some light.

I have used algaefix in the past. I did remove the chaeto in my sump.
I did keep my skimmer running.

Remove the cheato.

I have the cheato in a separate bucket with a light, and I put some cheatogro, neophos, and neonitro in to boost its nutrients. You guys don't think I need to turn off the skimmer?
