Sorry to hear that, I just woke up.

In terms of damage control, the nano tank probably doesn't have a lot of other fish in it and the clownfish was quarantined, so little risk there.

As to what happened? It could have been shipping damage (the bruises) but there is another issue that people run into a lot - fish are sometimes sold and shipped in water with a low salinity/specific gravity. People receive them and try to acclimate them up to full salinity and it just doesn't work. Does your brother know the salinity of the shipping bag versus the tank? Going up more than .004 specific gravity units can be an issue.
