Thanks Rui. And do you use the camera underwater with a cover or from outside with the lens in contact with the glass or not?
Thanks again Rui.! Great work and reporting there as well as fantastic coral polyp expansion.Hello again Royin,
It depends ... If taking pictures from the front I just put the lenses in contact with the glass to ensure no movement in the lenses and minimum distortion.
If taking shots from above I use a TopDown Tube from Building an Obsession.
All the best,
Rui
Thanks again Rui.! Great work and reporting there as well as fantastic coral polyp expansion.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]. I wish my corals looked half as good as yours... [emoji39]
One question: I see that at some point you decided to change from Radions (you had 5?) to T5. Maybe I missed it but could you elaborate on why you decided to change? If I recall you were running radio a and T5 correct?
Also, are you happy with how the 80w cover the length of your tank?
Cheers!
Hello again,
Several people showed interest in my old tank.
I told them ... I will not sell it or give it away except if you are willing to take it down and re-glue all the glass properly.
If it's not secure for me it's not secure for anyone.
Finally I found some people willing to take it ... they call the recycling glass guys ... LOL! A heavy hammer, 10 bags and a carton box after there it went to the place the tank really deserved.
DONE!
Meanwhile I changed my phone. From an iPhone 6 plus to the brand new Galaxy S8+
While I can say it's fun for a quick snap it get's no where near my DSLR with Macro Lense
In the middle of a water change
Got to love my ATI SunPower T5 fixtures ... see the brown and dead tissue under the coral????
And some TOP DOWN!
All the best,
Rui
Looks awesome!
Thanks Rui,VJV,
First of all you need to create your build thread ... you will thank it later when you are able to go back and see everything you went thru. The evolution ... everything. It's really good.
Second I never really liked that rock and all the aquariums I know that use it have problems.
Since it's just in the beginning, why not build it with good quality rock (I love pukani as it's light and workable) build 3 islands centred that allow for 3 side views and move the fixture to the center? Do you know Paulo Oliveira ReefSpot?
Where are you based? if close we can do a hand and change that.
All the best,
Rui
Thanks Rui,
I am from Cascais so not too far. I need to get myself to put up a build thread but my hectic life makes it difficult. Work abroad so only at home during weekends and if i spend half a day testing and doing maintenance and rhe other half documenting that my wife and (3) kids will change the lock [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]
I have been playing around with the idea to switch to pukani for a while as I really like it also. But on the other hand feel kind of bad as the aquaroche structures are beautiful, covered in coraline (finally, it took years!) and were quite expensive... But as you say, this would be a food time to switch and i am very tempted!
It would have to be in phases in order not to upset the biological filtre too much given i have already a healthy population of fish.
You just gave me more food for thought!
Thanks Rui! That is an amazing offer. I ger the feeling you are looking for a new project to keep you entertained as your tank is just cruising along [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]
I need to take things slow, and cannot have another 200 liter vat in the house with fish and filtration in it. My tank is in the main living room so need to keep disturbance to a minimum to maintain family peace.
I already have some 10litres of Seachem Matrix media in the sump, so that should be covered (and again, a massive thanks for offering the Marine Pure block!). What i believe i will do is replace one island at a time, after having the pukani properly cured.
Again, thanks and i have said this before but your enthusiasm is inspiring! Where everyone sees problens in this hobby you see an opportunity to have some fun! For that alone I am voting in you for Reefer of the Month! It is settled! Tje aquaroche is going out!
Great tank, love it.
