Corals arrived yesterday- all in great condition, and opened up this morning for a little Hello! I setup an acclimation tank where they will stay for the next 14 days; to observe, dip as appropriate to need, and get used to an acclimation mode of the lighting that they will live in DT.

BTW, These frags are Uber clean in regards to algae, and pests that are many times disappointedly obvious from other vendors. Even in my previous orders with TSA, when I did get to the dipping stage, I have yet to encounter a problem!

I haven’t photographed everything yet. My intent is to post each one with a description on my Build Thread once they have settled and truly opened up. So keep a watch on that thread in about 14 days!
Love this Pavona

I might have to frag half my red monti cap and place a green one next to it. Hmmmm, not the same as yours but as close as I can get. When I was watching the video I thought dang I wish I would have got a bicolor one!

Totally Steve. Don’t you just want to take a little bit out of it!? It’s like a Lays Salsa Verde flavored chip.
Just don’t try to taste it to confirm that…. ;)

That’s not a bad idea on placing yours close together. I know zero about grafting - but what the heck,,give it a try.

I did too. I think we got the, same torch and chalice! That would be so cool. If I compared my growth to a SteveSchueger coral and was close; that would be a success!

My red.monti recently began showing some green. Just a few small stripes and a larger splotch. Kinda neat.

Unfortunately no. When they went to ship it, they noticed a tiny bit of flesh separating. They absolutely did not want to send without it being perfect.

I was very happy that they continue to have such high standards - as a new reefer, I likely wouldn’t have noticed something so small; and I didn’t pay for it. They could have easily sent it.

They are already on the hunt for something similar in color range for me. Blaine knows what I love and will surprise me with something spectacular. And I have plenty TSA corals to work on right now - lol.

When I do receive this showcase piece, it will get its own post and pictures.

Now that’s exciting news! See, you don’t even have to create a pretend one. Let that grow out to a mother colony

Anything you can attribute it to? Or is it just magic?

I think @billyocean calls it Pixie Dust and dirty hands or something...

I haven't done anything to it. My guess is it either originally came from a grafted Monti and the graft is starting to come back in or, I've read that they can occur naturally through an infection or polyp bailout from a nearby colony of the other color. I have no green Montis so my theory is infection or prior graft waking back up from dormancy.

Hey Kev,

I spoke to Frank at the TSA farm this morning regarding my one grafted monti cap that broke during shipment. He said I didn’t need to glue, but could just align next to each other and they will eventually come together. Since I’m dealing with a color split, I will lightly glue mine. But you have the option to do either.

A small token of my appreciation and love!

That’s the Tunze scraper I won with the rosewood cover. It is too strong for my noodle arms and I knew you had the size tanks that could handle that magnet strength- plus the rosewood is so pretty you sorta want to actually clean your glass.

So I’ll be wanting some firebug/reefing/Illinois themed stickers some day. Gonna make one whole tank cabinet door dedicated to the Smorg!

And hopefully Timber will be a good citizen and share the goodies.

I’m just so happy to see you reefing actively again.

DO YOU USE A PAR METER WHEN PLACING NEW CORAL IN YOUR TANK?
