Thinking of switching from sand to crushed coral

What do you all think? I'm thinking of switching because I think crushed coral will be easier to clean with a Python. Is this true?
Thoughts? Any reasons not to?

Gravel can cause problems in some cases; what fish do you have?

Crushed gravel often enables algal growth than can turn substrate green and that is hard for inverts to clean.

It shouldn't cause a problem with those fish, but certainly would with wrasses.

I just removed my crushed coral rubble this weekend. It was an algae magnet after a few months. I think the main issue is that large gravel pieces restrict flow and allows detritus to build up causing nutrient build up for algae growth in the rubble.

They are sand sleepers who need an easy entrance and exit. Crushed coral is too big and can hurt them.
