New to reefing and decided to get my first torch, I have 3 hammers and wanted to upgrade, so so got my first torch coral (Wednesday 2/14) last week and I just noticed this like brown tentacle coming off it when I stopped the tank flow to feed the fish today, can someone tell me what I’m looking at and if it’s possibly what lead to the death of my coral beauty and emerald crab. Thank You

I have no idea what that is but I doubt that it killed either your fish or crab. Hopefully someone else chimes in.

Hello!

I have seen it on my torch and hammers. They are all doing fine. Searching the forum you will get answers saying it is poop or expeled excess zoaxanthellae. But I'm new to reefing so it would be better if someone with more experience confirm it for you

Corals poop and that looks like it. The only weird part about it is it looks a bit too uniform. They are usually filamentous.

I am almost sure that has nothing to do with the deaths you mentioned.
