Calibration issues. Using an ICP and other equipment like it I have found that the operator has to be on point and know what they are doing. I could never use results that were negitive and would have to calibrate and retest until I was getting exact results of know solutions and then and only then test the unknown. You can use any negitive result as a zero but then doubt the other results due to testing error.

I also should have looked at the results prior to answering. One is off by .1 and it's not exactly a critical element nor is this for a research paper. It's totally fine. Read it as a 0

Do you know what's the explanation for negative values over several elements? The lowest should be zero!!!

IMO, that's a reasonable way to indicate zero. All scientific methods have some random error, and the error bars may extend below zero. Obviously it isn't real to be below zero, but it is likely the actual result, and that should be interpreted as being within their standard error of zero.

You could always visit your local university and ask the chem department or lab corrdinator of a department with an ICP if they would be willing to run test on your water or clubs water and let some analytical or environmental chem class use the results.

Worth a shot if your unwilling to pay $25 and want to see some of this stuff up close.

ICP-Analysis returned my results today via email.

Please comment and help me to see/understand any things that needs attention. This is my first such test.

Here are the results.

Interesting. Are you experiencing anything negative in your tank? Would like the tests for my tank. Things are good but always could be better, gives a new perspective of what's going on in your system.

No, things are doing well, in fact I would say very well as I perceive it.

Nothing looks bad or out of whack. The only thing I would watch for on subsequent tests are the levels for cobalt and chromium. If they continue to rise, you potentially could have something corroding on you, but totally safe at your present levels.
Your magnesium is a bit high but you can probably let it fall naturally, only take concerted action if you have snails having trouble.

Thank you, that's good to hear. Yea, I added just a little too much Mag to my last water change. I use IO and it's always a little on the low side with MAG so I'll just reframe from adding any to my next water change.

This proves to me that at least for now that WC are sufficient for keeping micro elements at target levels and pollutants low. Also I use ROX carbon regularly and always had a slight fear of it depleting some of those micro elements no matter what I read, I now rest easy. I now have proof in black and white that my simple methods are working on this system, at least for now.

I guess we are still waiting on your Triton report, to compare.
Or am I wrong?

Hmm. Did you have to freeze or add some potassium nitrate or something to your samples?
