Hi,
I am planning to upgrade my stock lighting for my biocube 32. Steve's LED is an expensive option for me and same to nanobox retro fit or other non hood options. My question is which truelumen LED strip I should use? Current white light is too much bright for my corals. Please help!!

Arif,
I could be wrong, but:
I do not think that those truelumen LED strips are meant to to be "full blown" lighting that can grow healthy corals.

If you want to add them to your current lighting, they maybe nice.

If I'm wrong, can some else please post?

I run a Biocube 32 with stock lighting
I've added 2 50/50 blue white strips and one blue strip
I don't know the actual par readings, but it certainly make the tank brighter and crisper
I have a mixed reef, no problem growing SPS
Clam on the bottom is a recent addition, but seems to be doing well

Amazon LEDENET 12" strips
They sell all white, 50/50, actnic, fuge...
They dont come with a power supply or dimmer, so buy that separately
You can daisy chain them together and put them on timers to supplement the stock lighting

Prog 1- 12p-6p
Prog 2- 11p-7p
Prog3- 9a-11p

2 blue strips- 10a-10p
2 wh/bl strips- 1130a- 630p

Long light cycle
I have some algae so I've been thinking of shortening the white cycle

I did find Coralife recommended whites (channel 1) to run 4-6 hrs. No wonder I’ve had algae issues and some bleaching even though lights aren’t super strong. Was running whites 7-8 hours...

I know this is an old post, but I’m hoping someone can add some insight on how to attach the led strips inside the hood without getting rid of the stock lighting?

Skidoctor, how did you mount the lights in the hood?
Did they last?

Bumping again to see if we can find out how lights were attached and how they’re doing!

Following this for the same reason. Hope this thread can be revived. Skidoctor visited the site yesterday.

I agree! I just got this 12" combo strip and I'm trying to figure out how to add it to my Biocube hood without taking out the stock lighting.

I used the 10" Trulumen strip but it stopped working after 2 months. I assume due to corrosion. It said water "resistant" vs the LEDENET which says waterproof IP67.
