When I got my tank, this crab was living in it. I’m wondering if anyone can identify it for me.

I’m also wondering if it is dangerous to corals? It is about an inch in width if that. It has a rocky like appearance and is red but overtime has started turning to a whiter color.

It seems to only come out at night. I thought it was dead but now I see it every night. It always looks like it’s trying to escape.

I live in Hawaii so it could be from here if that helps with the identification process.

Thank you!

I cannot I.D. but crabs are generally opportunistic predators. Some say the black tips on the claws indicate not reef safe. If he’s wandering around at night he’s likely looking for food. The tank looks pretty clean. Maybe offer him a small shrimp piece or something meaty and see how he reacts.
