So I there is some weird snail looking thing I found on my rock. I don’t recall buying it. Is that a parasite? It looks like a snail with a weird tube mouth. Also my hermit. I think it’s dead, but it also seems to have some cloudy white thingy surrounding its body? What should I do. This ones kinda urgent! 464BAE4F-1600-46A5-8BF1-3B90CB5D083C.jpeg

Ok, also anything to say about the hermit? Also should I remove the stomella if that’s what it is? Or is it harmless?
Keep the stoma, they are great cleaners and normally hitchhike in on other snails.

They seem to be more inclined to clean rocks than any other snails I’ve had in my tank so definitely pretty valuable

Have you had any experience with hermits and can you tell if it’s molting? Also thanks

I’m sorry but I’ve never had a hermit crab, I find when my shrimps molt they are usually pretty active in using a rock or hard surface to remove the shell rather than just sitting still like it’s dead. If someone else could confirm that would be good.

Otherwise how long has the hermit been still, does it react to your touch, why do you think it’s dead etc.

If hermit crabs are anything like snails the easiest way to tell if their dead is to pick the shell up and smell it. It’s one of the worst smells ever ;Vomit

Yeah so i noticed about 4 hours ago, I touched it a little and it seemed like the legs move out of the shell a bit. Hopefully someone with experience can confirm it’s dead or alive so I can get rid of it if necessary Don’t want my ammonia spiking.
