Hello everyone! This past weekend i traded a few things for a up and running biocube but the back wall has been taken out. Guy i got it from said he has ran it with no filter for a long time. Just a diy hob air powered breeder box with some rubble in it. My question is this right? this is my first up and running saltwater tank and it does ave 3 coral in it already. 1 frogspawn and 2 others i'm not sure of. I will post pics in a few mins. Should i go with a actual hob filter or canister? i do have a magnum 350 that polishes the water.

Also what are suggestions on CUC? The coral that is in it seems to look good and healthy, but then again first tank so who knows. lol

That looks like a beautiful cube, and welcome to R2R as well!

CUC includes snails, crabs etc so it depends what you want. I have lots of hermits as they will get rid if unwanted waste and dead things that you can’t reach

I would switch ou your filter for a skimmer. I would also advise you to add more water flow. For CUC, Serpent or a Brittle Sea Star, Scarlet Reef Hermits, Nassarius, Cerith and Turbo snails to start.
Best of luck to you and welcome to R2R!

Its is a jebao ow 25 I think? I'll have to double check when I get home. I do have another jebao pump as well that came out of a 60 gallon cube. I'll double check that one too. I was thinking now that you said more flow...normally this tank would have the return pump plus a wavemaker....now because its wide open with no back wall it's only a wavemaker. So obviously it is not receiving the same flow it would have with the return pump..

So I put another wave maker in. I thinks it's a ow 25? I have it coming on and off so not to constantly blast everything. But I have a zoa I bought sat and it has opened 1 polyp 1/4 way and then has not opened again since. It has 6 heads and none are opening. I moved it to a low flow and low light spot...didnt open...left it for 3 days. Moved it this morning to a med flow and med light spot...again 1 opened partial and then closed and they are all still closed....any thoughts?

Duh...suppose that would help huh? Lol salinity I know is at 1.024 I check that daily. Only thing I cant check is alkalinity my new kit comes tomorrow. Ph was 8.4 couple days ago. And nitrites 0 and nitrates were 5 ppm. Temp is at 75 76. And ammonia is at 0. Gonna do my weekly water change tomorrow.
