I am blown away by how well my Hallowe'en urchin cleans. The rock is completely stripped (including coraline!) after it passes through. Even cyano patches are gone.

My Trochus also put in work, even on longer strands which surprised me.

I had to dial back my light intensity for a bit so I can get it all under control.

How big is your Halloween? The shop by me has some of those, plus some variegated whites and variegated purples. I don’t want anything too big and he’s out of tux right now…

Mine is approx 2.5" in diameter.

Mine was also out of Tux. Are you from Merrimack Nova Scotia? Who are you ordering from?

I changed my plan a bit for this tank. Going to shift to an LPS dominant system. Planning on some meaty fluffy stuff on the sand, a nice acan garden on the lower rocks, some scatter shrooms, a duncan colony, teal caulastrea colony, and likely 2 colonies of easier to keep SPS, thinking some rainbow stylo from ORA, and ponape birdsnest. A shop nearby has a very nice toxic green trachy I might go snag tonight… added a couple cynarina pieces and some shrooms. The tester piece of digi has color and PE, so I’m happy with how things are progressing. Starting making alk adjustments, and will begin to bring cal and mag into spec once I hit the 9.1-9.3dkh area. Have also made a decision on All For Reef for dosing maintenance. Hoping this tank comes out nicely!

Uglies in full force. Algae will skew the test numbers, but I’ll test NO3 and PO4 soon. Big 3 are sitting at 8.6, 425, 1325. Going to monitor for alk drop and start All For Reef shortly.

Well a couple more months into cycling and the uglies are on their tail end of moving out. Really happy with how this tank is coming along.

Wow, from the last picture to this! This is the perfect example of you’ve got to have patience and get through the uglies so you can get to this.

I learned a few hard lessons being impatient and making bad decisions on my last tank that’s finally stabilized… this tanks been running since July and I had no expectations for cycling time frame. Looked like I had some Dino’s (though never confirmed with microscope) and then a real bad GHA problem. Just kept plugging away and manually removing algae, running ChemiPure, and lettin her ride. Really happy with how this tanks coming along.

I decided to switch my Orphek OR3 bars settings up a bit. Went with a Helius type schedule that starts and ends with blues. PAR is about 300 at the surface during the peak and 160 on the sandbed. The corals are enjoying it.

Did a little coral shopping yesterday. Got some acans and zoas, as well as some pectinia, plus a couple feather dusters at one stop, then 5 SPS frags from another stop. Don’t even remember what kind of sticks they are, only remember the stylo. Almost forgot another color zoa and some setosa I had sent to me as well.

All the SPS have started to settle in. Getting some nice polyp extension. I pulled the trigger on a Kamoer KH Carer to integrate into my Hydros collective. I’m running an X10 with alk testing via the iV, and wanted to test a different method, so went with Kamoer on this tank. Will be interesting to see the pros/cons of each system.

Going to add an AvastMarine K1 to this system. Just put one on my 75 gallon system too. Pretty happy with how she’s lookin, though I may be taking some of the coral out and putting it in my other tank.

Considering going sticks dominant in this tank, guess we’ll see how ducky I’m feeling next time the lids are off on both the tanks… little FTS and random snap of my acans.

This should help things a tick… been enjoying alk testing and monitoring with my X10 setup on my larger tank, and found a deal on this. Excited to get her goin!

Setup is coming to final stages. Have 5 SPS frags cooking, polyps extended, already showing growth after 2 weeks. Going SPS dom on this system and exited for it.

Tank update- things settled in nicely after the first round of acros, and just added another 4 pieces. I think I’m just going to pause for a while and let her rip. I also set up a Santa Monica scrubber. It’s small, but hoping it will compliment some extra filtrations. Guess we’ll see…
