What is going on with my hairy mushroom.

what is happening to my mushroom? Is it dieing or splitting?

I think you may need a better picture as I can't even fully make out where the mushroom is, let alone what is wrong with it. I see you are using LED's which tend to make it difficult to photograph without skewing the colors. Change it to more white (to take the photo only) and take the photo trough the glass so that the reflection of the LED and the waves is not interfering.

Yea take a pic from the front of the glass so it is clear. I see my shrooms split all the time just need a better pic

Looks like mesenterial filaments. Could be a feeding response or a stress related response.

Hmmm... doesnt look good. Normally you can see the mesentrial filaments when the mushroom is splitting, but from this picture, it appears that its mostly holes what are making them visible. Also, it looks like the mushroom is now upside down. Do you have anything that may have been picking at the mushroom?

Couple different shots. It sits at the top of my tank so hard. It has holes in the center of it. Before it was the size of that rock when fully expanded

It might be stressed from too much light... I would start with moving it lower in the tank. Mushrooms typically prefer less light and yours looks like its all the way on the top. It may be trying to split itself to move in a more shaded area.

Thanks for the help I will move it to the bottom and see how it does. I have another one lower and. It’s doin well so makes sense

I would leave it, even if goes I would not be worried about a nitrate spike. Mushrooms are pretty resilient

Extremely resilient in my experience

Yeah, I’d moved it into less light, and leave it be. See if it can recover. If anything, that coral has the highest chance of that!

+1 on the moving it down into less light.

Shrooms don't need much, and you will find that they will open even more in less light since they try and take in as much as they can.
