What is happening in my middle chamber?

Please see pic.. there is this weird layer forming in my sump. What could it be?

Seems to be some sort of protein build up. I would just skim it off and keep it clean and see where it goes from there.

Is there a way to up the flow through that area. It seems a little still.

Still spots will always breed some crazy stuff in a reef tank.

I just put a small pump in there to agitate surface and get things moving..it broke up and became these white thin sheets...so weird
