I just found this rather large hard spiral tube that is under one of my blastos. I am not sure what this is, thought it might be a Spirorbid Worm but this is not the white color that most of the pictures of Spirorbid Worms show. The opening is rather large but i can not see any creature inside. Any Ideas?

are you sure? I have never seen vermentid snails get this large before. This is about the size of a penny, I could put the end of a cue tip in the opening.
Vermentid snails come in several different sizes. I am not sure no as I would want to see its feeding response for a 100% conclusion, but I've seen vermentid snails with a total shell diameter greater than a penny. Those are the vermentids I hate the most because when they feed they make very large mucous nets.

I have dealt with the really small ones and even had to do a full tank tear down 2 years ago because they took over everything, we are talking tens of thousands of them, when it got to point they were even killing all my coral I threw in the towel and started over.

Well I guess i will just fill the tube opening with glue and be done with it then.

OK this all makes sense now. I had this blasto near some other coral and I would notice each day that it looked like there was a mucus strand between them and I though they were attacking the blasto. So I moved it and those other corals are much happier now... here i was thinking they just did not like the Blasto but I guess it was the snail and not the coral... LOL. Well its all sealed in with glue now. I hope this does not mean I have a bunch of other large vermenitid snails hiding elsewhere in my tank now.
