What is this

This guy was on my conch when I got him and this morning it was on the bottom of my tank. It's still alive. Does anyone know what it is or if it's harmful

Looks like it may be a slipper limpet of some sort. Does it have a "half shell cup" (for lack of a better term) on the bottom side?

Yesits just a half shell the open side was against the conch shell. But he had been on the conch for close to 6 months I guess and just came off one night

Yeah, they're filter feeders, so not much reason to move if they're getting food where they are at. Maybe it decided to find greener pastures.
 

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
