Autocorrect screwed me somehow on the thread title and I can't edit it. It should read "What kind of algae is this?"

So last night I trimmed my chaeto and this was wrapped up in the middle of it. It's more of a red brown than the green of the chaeto and it has a cool branch structure. The whole piece is about an inch long. I thought it was cool looking so I stuck the "trunk" of it in a hole in my LR in the display. What could it be?

gracillaria, I think that's it. I'm going to leave it in my display for a little bit and see if it grows. It looks cool.
