Will a 24 inch ATI T5 hybrid led fixture be ok on a 29 Biocube?

I am considering upgrading my 29 Biocube aquarium lighting. I recently watched a BRS video discussing the benefits of the ATI t5 hybrid led light system. The smallest available is a 24" x 18" that is suspended above the aquarium. The dimensions of the Biocube is 19" x 19". Therefore, there is a lot of light that will illuminate beyond the aquarium. 1) I think this will look weird and possibly annoying to have bright lighting outside of the aquarium. 2) The oversplash of lighting is wasteful. 3). I will have to lose the hood and have to upgrade to a mesh/plexiglass lid system.
Has any Biocube owner tried this? If so, do you have any pictures? Anyone else have thoughts/opinions? In my dreams I may upgrade to a 24 inch cube. Then the oversplash would become mute.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
