I'm planning to use aluminum extrusion to build a floating canopy. Thinking I'm going to break it up into two cells deep (350mm) and four cells (500mm) wide.

Question: who's used 2020 or 2040 extrusion for a canopy build? Is 2020 stiff enough for this large of a tank?

As a structural engineer, I'm leaning towards being conservative and using 2040 vertically aligned to get that extra stiffness so it doesn't sag. Also want to attach some sort of plastic face so it looks more fitting with the stand and the 2040 would a give better surface to attach to. Anyone done this type of build?

How is the canopy design coming along? I am also designing a floating canopy for my new tank, I hope to start building this weekend. I haven't built one with extrusion but I use it a lot. Since it'll be cantilevered off the wall, I like your 2040 vertically-oriented idea!

I don't have an Apex set up to monitor yet. Hopefully I'll move one over this weekend.

I am running both pumps at 50% power though.
Took a Apex off one of my other tanks and got it set up over the weekend with a FMM. The flow meter is saying I'm averaging about 160 gph. That can't be right since the pumps are rated to 2700 gph and I'm running two at 50%. Wondering if there's something wrong with the flow meter.

Next water change I'm probably going to take it off and soak it in Citric acid and see if that helps. On the course of trouble shooting, I found out the Fs-100 is rated to 150-1500gph. Might need to upgrade to a FS-200 long term.

I went with the 2040 frame. Been slow to put it together and definitely feel like I over engineered it. Have it ready to hang this weekend if I can get all the hardware for the lights squared away.

Added a 4 damsels and two fire gobies on Sunday along with Fritz turbo start and another bacterial supplement from AB. So far all are doing ok, nitrogen cycle seems to be well underway with the readings.

I also added the doors back on, including the chipped one while I wait for the replacement. With indoor lights, you can really see the blue tint from the glass doors. The color a little off from the stand - jury's still out.

I agree here...I have been researching and have been been considering a CADE 1200 with white stand but have been noticing that the white they use is somewhat off in shade or something. The Glass doors definitely do not match the stand which looks a little out of place. The frame almost has a pinkish hue to it.

Yeah, they don't match in normal white daylight. However, now that I have my lights hung... I'm pretty happy with it all.

Wow, two months has passed quickly!

Tank has been up and running since 3/17. First fish went in a week later, 4 damsels and two fire fish. One damsel damsel left at this point due to various expected reasons. Fire fish just went carpet surfing yesterday despite the mesh. Odd!

About 3 weeks ago, started getting the uglies, so I added a golden headed gobies, a lawnmower gobie and 30 snails (nassarius, astrea, trochus). That seems to have helped a long with 100 gal water changes - ouch!

I've started consolidating some fish last weekend from my 120 gal into the CADE, and everyone seems happy so far. Will give it a few weeks of bio load before pulling more out of my WB 90.3.

In other updates, I upgraded my water system and added an in line pump to power water changes at ATO top offs. Pretty happy with it.

Lastly, I pulled my protein skimmer off my 120 and have it soaking in Citric acid to clean it up. Will add that in this weekend.

I am so curious about you Jebao UV sterilizer. Can you post a link for the one you purchased?

Sure thing - got it off Amazon. Here's how I have it installed too. Seems to be working really well one I remembered to turn the timer on!

Very nice. I love the white stand. Looking to buy one myself. Anything that you would do differently?

While I do really like the aquarium... Part of me wonders if I would have been happier with something else. Maybe a Waterbox for example. I have a marine x 90.3 and I will say I think the aquarium build quality is better there. The glass, the silicone and plumbing are area where I think there's room for improvement. I don't regret my purchase... Just that hindsight is 20/20, ya know?

Also, I've been dissatisfied with @AlgaeBarn and their ability to fully remedy the situation. I'm still waiting on a new door and they've gone radio silence for a while now with no firm estimate of when I'll get a new one.

Nice job!! We must be on another similar path here because I have some 8020 bars coming in this week. Lol

I am not the best at designing the plumbing. And since I live in Casper Wyoming the help here is limited. Which is why I have been looking at the CADE. This will be my last tank. I am hoping to get it right. No leaks. I love the ATO. How has the ATO been working for you? Thanks for all info.
