Its not the best set up Skimmer out there, its more of the low end. Doesn't produce what most would be considered alot of foam for the price. Its the pump thats lacking, thats an old needle wheel design.

I ran one on a 55 gal. for four years before the pump went out. Replaced the pump and ran it another 3 years. I always say that was the best skimmer I ever had. Replaced it with a newer version a year ago. Wasn't real happy, so went and got another pump and am still using that original skimmer on that tank - eight years now. I know this isn't a normal review. I have two other tanks with sumps and big skimmers, so I know better. One down side to the Corallife 65g is the way it goes into the cup diffuser causes lots of salt creep.

I have had a 30 gallon dt and 10 gallon sump set up for abouttwo years now, and I use the same skimmer. I have not had any problems with it, but I don’t use the valve by thepump and the cup diffuser. The bubbletrap in the sump catches any air bubbles put out by the skimmer.

I don't understand your question? Maybe you should read this article: Protein skimmer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Back 25 years ago we called them foam fractionators. A protein skimmer mostly get filled up with fish poop. I think if you understand what a protein skimmer does you'll understand more about what you want in purchasing one.

I mean when you fill your tank with water and it gets all cloudy how fast does it take for this skimmer to clear the cloudiness up

Skimmer won't clear up cloudy water, you want to run a filter with carbon to do that.

i had one on my 29 gallon tank, it ran fine for 6 months, but then got to where every other day it would stop producing bubbles and i would have to turn it off for a few hours and turn it back on. i switched to a reef octopus nwb 110 and am very happy i did. the coralife is quite loud compared to the reef octopus. my water is much cleaner now also.
