I’d love to know more specific names for my softies as many Aussie LFS use very broad terms when selling them. It feels like everything is some type of leather, even if it’s something else entirely. Any ideas on species/names for the corals below?
sold as a ‘finger leather’
This guy (the...
Is this a hammer or a frammer? Or any sort of hybrid?
Also what are those "dots" on the skeleton of the coral? New branching? Is it normal to have that many "dots"?
Thanks for any help, this is my first LPS which is why I'm probably asking a lot of basic questions.
it wasn’t this big when i got it. it just kept growing more and more till it got to this size. and to be completely honest, i kind of like it and would probs prefer it to be on its own with no zoas.
Hi everyone I got some new corals today in a big lot and I was wondering what there names are I think ones a type of chalice, meat coral, and utter chaos zoa? Thank you guys in advance!
I recently received some live rock and frags from a friend to start my nano 5.5gallon. Things have gone great the last 3 weeks but I have no idea what I'm looking at any help Id'ing would be awesome.

Also have this piece, a frag.of it...
Got this frag at a shop, I was told this is Australophyllia Wilsoni. Did some searches and cant seem to find anything like it. The closest thing i can think of is some sort of Acan.
So, I noticed these kinds of white bulbs popping up a bit back and I took a closer look at it this evening and noticed it's starting to develop neon green. I like to let my tank go all natural and really thought nothing of it when it first started appearing. Now, I'm curious about what it is or...
Hi all, I got some frags from my LFS yesterday and could use an ID on one of them. It's a dark orange color with a yellow/green undertone. It's got a fuzzy texture and has little orange bumps throughout. Thanks!
Hi all, I picked up a few frags from my LFS yesterday and need an ID on one of them. It's a reddish orange with a yellow/green undertone with little yellow bumps throughout. Thanks!
I got a ton of coral from my university because they're done researching them and didn't know what to do with them. They're in rough shape because they aren't aquarists (microbiologists). Most have too little flesh to get an accurate ID so I've cleaned the algae off their exposed skeletons, gave...
This mystery coral started to grow a while back. I’ve researched and researched trying to figure out what it is to no avail. It doesn’t seem to bother the other corals so I haven’t tried to dispose of it because I think it’s kind of pretty. It has red coloring and almost reminds me of maple...
Got this coral for free from someone local and don’t know the specific name. What type of acan is this? Is it just a green hammer? Also the other green might be pavona sps? Lastly frogspawn? Just looking for their specific names so I know what I have. Thank you!
Got this with some live rock and rubble so this was unexpected was messing with the rocks and decided to flip it out of curiosity and notice this little guy on the underside of the rock he’s been like that in the sand for almost a week and still looks great. The mouth is yellow with a pinkish...
I got this coral over a year ago and it came as a mystery coral or in a bundle or something like that. But I’ve never known what it was and haven’t seen it for sale anywhere. It’s the green coral.
Hey,
I just started my first reef tank and just got my first duncan coral.
After looking at some images online of these corals, I noticed that my coral looks nothing like them, not even small frags.
It looks like a SPS to my beginner eye, it has many small polyps.
Can you guys tell me if this...
Won this coral by bid just over a year ago. It was listed as ‘yellow eyed favia’. It was like 1 inch in size when i got it. It grows slow but it suddenly will have a growth spurt sometimes. Its now on a 2 inch plate cause it over grew the one it came on. I realised the polyps are getting bigger...
Can someone please help identify the greenish (sorry I'm colorblind) coral that is fallen over. I think it's some sort of leather coral but I'm not sure. Every few weeks it tips over and usually goes back to normal within a day or so. I've had it over a year and the water parameters have been...
