Yes, I am still using it. Works great. I run it full of media and run the return through my Arid C30 to scrub some of the ph off.

Great! Could you share how you’re running it? I’m not getting very high Alk in the effluent. Only about 14 dKH at 140 ml/min.

I run co2 to it and control it via Apex. I keep the ph between 6.38 - 6.45. That seems to dissolve the media correctly and my all and calcium stay pretty constant for my tank.

Great tank! Congrats!

Are you still using the same ReefOctopus calcium reactor? If so, how are you running it (flow, pH, media, effluent Alk)?

I ask because I have that reactor and have a similarly sized and stocked tank and am struggling to keep up with Alk demand.

What you can do is get your effluent alk up to 20-25 dKh and that should maintain your desired level. I just switched to this method member @jda has been teaching me about.

It skips the ph controller and probe and the regulator runs 24/7, however it produces stable alk. So for example, today I switched out my CO2 bottle and my effluent alk while on a controller was 14.x dKh. After about 8-10 hours of running non stop, the effluent alk is now 16.9 dKh. And that’s not worrying about the reactor ph. You can still use the probe to monitor but a controller isn’t needed anymore. So tomorrow AM, if my effluent is still 16.9, I’ll up the injection rate and then Retest. Once I hit 20+ dKh, that should maintain rock solid tank dKh.

And once I know the “ratio” that gets me say 22 dKh (for example) and that maintains my 7.6 dKh in the tank, then anytime I need to adjust my demand up, I change the effluent and bubbles per minute by that “ratio”. For example, I’m running 120 ml/min and my carbon doser is set to 2.0 seconds per bubble ( I haven’t done an official bubble count) but let’s pretend it’s 60 bubbles per min, and this ratio hits that magic 20 or 22 or 25 dKh to maintain my tank dKh. If my demand changes, then I can always increase the effluent rate and bubble count by that 2:1 ratio (ie upped to 140 ml/min then new bubble count will be 70 bubbles/min, etc).

Love the tank just went threw all 21 pages. How have the angle fish been doing with the corals? I’ve thinking about adding a Goldflake and a regal to the new build I’m planning on doing.

my Regal lasted a few years then I lost him. I’ve never had Goldflake. I currently have a Bellus angel, a Watanabe angel and a Multibar angel. They all do great.

That's one of the nicest tanks i've seen. How did you get your corals colors to pop so much? I wish my tank looked like that!

thank you. The colors finally stared to really pop with I got a Neptune and started checking my cal and alk daily. My alk had always run a bit on the low side but now that it is monitored I keep it between 9-10 And the colors really popped after I got into that range. I keep my cal around 480.
