ADVICE PLEASE. got a brand new 160 for Christmas. Transferring everything from my 7 year old tank. Was thinking no sand, but rethought that and now wondering the best way to go. Crushed Coral, Black Sand. Just know I don't want anything fine, its messy.
What would you do then, if you knew what you know now
So excited and don't want any regrets.

I used a mix of ocean direct and Tampa Bay Salt Water live sand. I am very happy with it. My tank is a low 80 so 48x24 and I run 2 mo40’s as well as 2 mp-10’s and the Tampa bay stuff pretty much stays put. All the biome in there was amazing had a little cyano then a little Dino then a little GHA but all came and went with no intervention from me outside of small daily water changes.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
