My entire refugium is DIY'ed lol. It works too well "unfortunately".

If you're wondering about the build...

•fluval 0.5 gallon hang on back breeder box
•hygger 6w submersible full spectrum light
•generic 50gph AC pump
•specifically red ogo macro algae

I tried chaeto twice but both times it simply rotted in my tank :( dont know why but i dont care, what i have now works *too* well lol

Phillips Avent Baby Bottle Brush, a Double end Tubing Brush for CPAP Machine, Shonsin Digital Caliper, for measuring all kinds of things especially Pipe Fittings and Tubing. I used to be able to get the Center, out of Commercial Floor Buffer Pads, glued them to a Dowel for Cleaning glass. Got a whole bunch of graduated cylinders, from a lab at work. Every year, they tossed them, and bought new, some were never used. Got a Metric Measuring Spoon set too, from them. Got a Magnetic Stirrer, from them, the heater part broke, and they tossed it. Almost got a Refrigerator with two independent Cooling unit, but it was deemed hazmat. LOL, they only kept their lunches in it, but I guess the couldn’t let it out the used a Lab Grade Refrigerator, for that.

Just a couple come to mind.
A toothbrush works great for cleaning weirs and powerheads, and I always have one of those plastic cards that the credit companies give away for FREE to clean those hard to get to areas.

Very nice but a little pricey
A lot of these surgical tools are one use and then disposal. My anesthesia brother had a bunch of them he recycled even though he had earned the money to afford new.

I use a Sicce Voyager pump magnet holder and a steelwool pot scrubber cut in half for glass cleaning. Best magnet glass cleaner I ever had and no scratches in the glass. It removes even calcified algae and thin coralline algae. I use this nearly exclusively, I only very rarely have to use the blade.

Rinsed with tap water after use it stays clean and can be used with the same half pot scrubber for a longer period of time.
