Best place to get clams from wellits not a store. But a guy from saltwaterfish.com use to breed clams. Have about 1000 of em. His name is Candycane. He got banned from there a few days ago cuz they claim he was a store which he isnt.

Im gonna try to get him to join on here, but he has some awesome clams. And plus they were breed here in the USA!

Hi. I do breed clams right here in the state of Colorado. It's only every type of Maxima and Squamosa though. I get in a good deal of Croceas and Derasas simply if I am traveling or see them around and they have unique color patterns.

The ones that I breed are Vanuatu Maximas, Ultra Blue Maximas, Teardrop Maximas and "green" or "yellow" Squamosas.

It runs longer under artificial conditions. They get bred, then get seperated by batch, then go through the veliger stage, then the pediveliger stage, at some point they get innocultated with zooxanthellae, then they go into grow out tanks, etc etc etc.......All in all it runs about 16 months to get to a size where I can sell them. I've been breeding them about 6 years and only been breeding larger batches about 3 years. The Maximas that I sell are around 2.5-3 inches. Squamosas are smaller most of the time.

I've sold and shipped thousands of them.

Reb,

I would put some pics up but I lost them all. The lights went out on the tidepools about an hour ago.
