The other day I noticed these black patches on one of my clownfish. The tank is currently a FOWLR, and the clownfish is behaving normally. Does anybody know what is causing these?

You may have here what is known as a mocha clown. If true, it is going through a color phase as a few of mine have done and becomes more chocolate in appearance. It does not looks like stings or disease

This clownfish is fully mature, will they still randomly change color as adults? Also, this is a percula clownfish, do they have a mocha variant as well?
I would say no. I would say - however, with the clowns available, anything is possible. I would be more concerned with possible coral , anemone, etc injury causing the darkening.
