Scolymia Overview: Scolymia are primarily known as a genus of large-polyp stony corals found in the Indo-Pacific region. These corals are often admired for their vibrant and stunning colors, making them popular among reef aquarium enthusiasts. Scolymia corals are known for their distinctive circular shape and large, fleshy polyps.

Button Coral and its Importance: These corals are characterized by their solitary nature and free-living habits. Unlike other corals that form colonies, button corals live independently on the ocean floor. They are often disc-shaped, with a central mouth surrounded by tentacles.

In reef aquariums, button corals are sought after for their hardiness, adaptability, and unique appearance. They are relatively easy to care for and can add diversity to a coral reef setup. Button corals are also known for their ability to inflate and deflate, adjusting their size based on environmental conditions.
