Does anyone know why my Colorado Sunburst BTA always reaches like this and never make any bubbles. Had him for about 10 months now and got him when he was really small. And my clowns don’t dig him at all. Never even tried to host. Tried about almost everything. Even had them in a separate tank to force them to host but nothing. I don’t spot feed the Nem but he does get the odd mysis when I feed.

IME (I have ~ 50 RBTAs), and they stretch to the ones getting the most flow. The ones getting milder flow are more bubbled.

I’m old school and still have the old school results it seems. I pound my bubbletips with light and feed them a piece of silverside or shrimp every two to three weeks and they all stay semi-bubbled during the day and really bubbled at night.

Looks great. I used to feed my silverside back in the late 70s and 80s, but somewhere in the mix, I stopped feeding them. Once every couple of years, I will give them a sliver of shrimp. They eat what the other critters get, which is mess and brine, with a touch of selcon.

Try feeding a piece of shrimp every other week and see if you notice a difference.
I have always fed my nems with good results.
You mean like a fairly big piece? Not like mysis and stuff? Like a big piece of shrimp from the store?

I have a large Colorado that needs to split, it stretches out almost 10" at the base. I feed mine small silversides or krill every few weeks or so. the stretching out is normal based off flow and light.

I agree. Not sure if the lights are turned down or flow is off, but if the face is splayed out and doesn’t have good color, it needs more light.

The photo makes it look like a RBTA (not that it really make a difference).

What are your tank parameters and what type of lighting are you using? Was the flow turned off when you took the photo?

How intense do you run your lights? I have a 2x2x16" and blasted mine with 100% G6 Blues
