Has a drop down trap door and a swing open/close door on one end. If using it to trap a fish you would use the drop down trap door, leaving the swing door open. If using it to introduce a new fish remove the trap door and use the swing door for release. I like to have any new fish in the tank with the other fish, yet separated from the others for a few days to get acquainted before release. Has a 2" over hang (for euro braced tanks) but work on other tanks to suspend it from a wall at the top of the tank
