Couple general questions (heat packs and saws)

So just a couple questions.

Regarding heat packs, how do you know the right size or number so you don’t fry the corals? Is there a general rule of thumb out there?

As far as saws go, is Gryphon the only brand out there for fragging or are there “off brand” versions that work just as well?

48 hour Packs, to protect your shipment in case of a delay, making sure the pack has air flow so it actually stays hot is key but I will say remember cold water is better than warmer water especially shipping. 1 pack will usually do good but for a larger pack 2 maybe 3 but if the weather is that bad where you think it needs that many hot packs it might not be worth the risk of shipping.

Bump up for the heat pack questions

I use 72 hour heat packs. They are slightly lower surface temperature, and give a larger cushion for delays.

They are larger, heavier, and more expensive, though!

I also found this on ShipYourAquatics:

TROPICAL FISH AND CORALS:
Below 40°F: DO NOT SHIP. Wait for warmer weather.
40-70°F: Use a heat pack per our directions.
70- 80°F: No heat pack, No cold pack.
80- 90°F: Cold pack.
90- 95°F: Hold at facility- Ship to a "FedEx Ship Center" facility (NOT a FedEx Office, Pak Mail, Mail Boxes Etc. or other satellite/franchise location). Your shipment will arrive early in the morning and be kept inside until the recipient picks it up. Search for a FedEx staffed facility near you.
Over 95°F: DO NOT SHIP. Wait for cooler weather.

Use only one heat pack per box unless you are using a large box, like the 30"x16"x10", where two heat packs can be used if needed.
Two heat packs in a box 16x16x8 or smaller will cause the box to get too hot and can kill the animal.

Thoughts? Seems pretty reasonable
