Most of the time, following the instructions results in sub-therapeutic levels and you have to dose more. But you can only safely do that with a copper test kit to measure it with.

Yes! absolutely need a thermometer and a copper test kit. Test often too!
You can soak your nori in a little garlic to see if that entices your blue tang to eat. Look at the label on your nori first though, because the brands I've seen sold in LFS's everywhere are already soaked in garlic

It's 20 drops for every 40L so you'll need at least 10 more drops. That's just to bring it up to 1/2 dose.... keep that in mind. You'll need to do it again in 48 hours to bring it up the rest of the way. You'll also need to adjust that according to what your test is showing. Also make sure you have the proper test kit for it. I believe it was mentioned earlier in the thread on this page.
In short... yes add 10 more drops, wait a few minutes for it to circulate around and test again.

What i did was:
1. Started with 11 drops and i had 5 rocks in the tank.
2. After 48 hours i changed 20% tank.
3. Next morning added 26 drops. Found signs of ich same day.
4. Next morning added 26 drops but salifert test kit shows no signs of cupramine.
Any comments?

No that's only going to get you half way there. The idea is to raise it slowly over 48 hours. It's 40 drops per 40L to get it to .5
+1 Keep adding Cupramine until it reaches 0.5. But take 2-3 days to get it there. A little everyday.

Did you take the rock out since #1?
When you do a water change you need to add the copper to the new water before adding it to the QT. You'll use the Full dosing instructions for this. which equals out to be 1 drop per L in your case.
Keep adding it and testing until you get to .5 at this point.

I want to make sure the copper can actually be detected. What do you recommnend me do to test if the test i am using is properly working?
And is there any chance of having a bad bottle of cupramine.

Your test should have a "test liquid" with it to be able to tell if it's working properly. Try that first. Really you went about this in a very disjointed way, so that's part of the confusion. You'll be fine. Just keep adding the cupramine slowly and testing until you see it reaching .5 During the water change you removed some copper from the water. Your rock also removed some from the system. You really can count those drops. Keep going and testing and keep us posted.

I have 2 tangs, 2 clown, 5 chromis, 1 fox face, a flame angel, 2 red fire fish, a melanarious in a 45gal qt and I have to change my water at least once a day. I have a huge sponge filter 2 whisper hob filters and a hydor 850gph running. I'm treating with copper for ick then I'm moving them to another qt then I'm going to treat with prazi-pro that system is a 55gal
Added another 40 drops and the test kit is showing detection of about .15.
Now got thermo and showing 27o celcius. I keep the heater at that level so i dont think the climate here can go warmer than that at this time of the year.
Got a HoB filter but my tank has rims. Now question is drill holes on the rim for the filter or try to squeeze in a razor and remove the rim ?
