I bought some closet brackets (the kind you put closet racks on) at the hardware store and mounted them to the wall behind the tank. I took off the lid of my 12g nano and attached it to the brackets with Velcro for easy removal when I need to maintenance my tanks. Now the lights aren't right above the water which keeps the acrylic cover cleaner. It also made room to install a reactor in the back and later add a skimmer if I want. I'm very happy with the results!

The cover for the bottom of the table is diy too. I took a felt-backed tablecloth and Velcroed it to the stand to protect the electrical equipment underneath. I can take it off easily when I need to.
