Egg Sac? Macroalgae? What is this

Hello, I’m trying to identify this thing growing out of an empty snail shell.

The snail has been dead and gone at least 6 months and the shell was empty, but today I noticed this thing growing out of it. It was under a shady outcropping in the sand so not much light and was not moving, any ideas?

Yeah, probably a sponge of some variety - should be harmless.

Yeah I mean either way they removed it so they’ll be fine.
