really want to do a foam/ rock back wall for a tank, i’d pond specific foam 100% necessary?
i’ve seen people using it because it’s black
but 15-20$+ for a can seems steep to me
would normal foam fillers work/ is there a different process?

i’d love to hear about other people’s experiences

I used the regular old great stuff in my old 180.
And then west system to coat it all.
how well did it hold up over time?
still haven’t decided what epoxy i’m gonna use
want to go the cheaper route since i won’t need a ton of it

It was completely fine when I took down the tank in 2018. I moved across the country and set up a new one here. Didn't use the foam this time.
If you do not use epoxy it will consistently have small air bubbles on it as the phone lets the air out. Also, it takes a lot longer for Coraline to grow on it.
This is what it was like when I took the tank down

Here is what I did page 2 is where it starts. The threat is pretty old so some of the pictures are missing.

super cool
i’m just gonna be doing a little 10 gallon tank on 3 of the sides
was thinking of contact cement vs epoxy
any clue how i can tell if it will be non toxic / safe when it cures?
