Aragonite cuz they are easier to break or cut. I usually try to take frags off the plug if they aren't too encrusted but if they are, I cut them up a bit so they aren't a perfect circle. Ceramic seem to shatter more then break for me. Probably all unnecessary and irrelevant in the long run but that's what I do.

I just noticed that I have a couple Frag Plugs that are Ceramic and they do not have much Algae on them.

Then I have a bunch of Aragonite ones with lots of Algae.

Is this coincidence or do the Aragonite ones attract (produce) more Algae than Ceramic Frag Plugs?

Has anybody else ever noticed this?

As I said Safe on coral. Been using it for years without an issue. I rinse the frag before putting it back in the system, but have never had any issues

I don't think it is just you, they do seem to collect algae.
I like both types of frag plugs.Ceramic plugs have a smooth clean look and can be easily cut with hand tools. The aragonite tend to be larger and are good for encrusting coral. Also aragonite is heavier so the frags stay put better.I do have trouble cutting it by hand as it tends to crumble.

I usually use the ceramic plugs for my frags that I trade/sell out. But I've also used rubble rock that I cure in the fuge and and find that the rubble LR has a better look to it then those plugs. To me even after the coral grows out and covers the plug and rock around it you can sometimes see the round plug underneath. IMO it makes for a bit of an eye sore in the tank on ocassions. Cheers.

Oh and those ORA plugs are a pain to deal with. I have always removed the coral from those plugs. Only way one can remove the base is like others have mentioned, use a hacksaw or dremel with a cutoff wheel.
