Coral update. Well, the new corals have been in the tank for two weeks. Here's some before and after pics:

Overall the corals are doing well. The chalice and zoas are growing like crazy! I'm not sure about the Jedi mind trick. It's got a different color on one end than before, darker. The green fluoresces a little but no red sprouts yet. The favia is still recovering from the crazy Alk and ph swings while I was straightening that out.

Moving the skimmer into the overflow chamber seems to be working well. It's skimming more and less detritus is getting caught in the remaining sponge. Phosphates was zero and nitrates were up to 10ppm because I didn't water change last weekend. Alk is holding steady at 9.0kh by dosing kalk only about twice a week. This is the best my tank has done. After a 1g water change, the nitrates should go down. I'd like to keep them at 5ppm which seems to be low enough for the SPS I have and high enough to keep the zoas and LPS happy. More updates to come.

Well my coralife skimmer is actually doing a good job. Despite the bad reviews it gets, I'm getting green skimmate daily. It broke in fine and after a little fiddling to get the bubbles at the right height, it's skimming away.
