Hi all,
I added in my first torch coral today, is it too close to the frogspawn and can it sting it? It'll of course have full polyp extension in a few days, fairly closed right now

Also, could anyone here verify that it is 100% torch and not hammer? Some of the tenticles look a bit hammer like but I am 99% sure it's torch

Thanks!

If you have a pic when it’s more opened up, it’d be easier to see if it’s a torch or hammer, I’m leaning more hammer currently. That said, I’ve heard hammers and frogs can get along but torches tend not to play well with others besides torches. Right now I think your distance is fine

Keep torch away at least 3-4" away from other coral, however I have mine near hammers and never had an issue. They have 2-3+" stingers

Distance looks good. That may kill your hammer so keep an eye out. I've never encountered a peaceful situation between a torch and hammer/frogspawn. The torch always fights em.

If it were to touch the frogspawn, would it take just that head out or the whole colonly?

I just noticed that there seems to be one tenticle growing out of another tenticle, sort of frogspawn like. Could this be a mixture of hammer and frogspawn, think they're commonly called frammers

It depends. Over a prolonged period, they bail out in my experience. However, if they are only able to touch a little bit, the stingers get stuck onto each other and it's sort of a stalemate.

Frogspawn/hammers/frammers are totally fine touching in my experience. Even over long periods of time. Same with the octospawn variety. I can't say the same for torches.

Left one is a hammer
Right one is a frammer frogspawn/hammer hybrid
The will be fine touching each other as they aren’t torches
