I just watched the video of you on ReefDudes. It’s so nice to put a voice and face to people‘s posts that you read online. I like reading your messages a lot. I never knew you had a tank because I never saw a build-thread-badge in your profile.

Going on 18 years of keeping tanks. Took a small break when I got married and moved 3 times in 6-8 weeks

Do you have any kids?

Also, 3 times in about 7 weeks? Why did you need to move so many times in such a short time period? I wouldn’t have been able to do that. Wow.

The time has come to get a thread going for this new build. I will do my best to keep everything updated as we move along but this build will be slow. Be prepared.

Equipment List
Tank:
Glasscages 72x36x22 peninsula (smoked eurobrace, low iron on 3 sides, Synergy V2 overflow, water level concealer)
Stand: T-Slot Aluminum
Lighting: 5 x AI Blade (3 Grow and 2 Glow. Switched 02/23)
Sump: Trigger Systems Custom Platinum 44
Flow: 2 X MP60
Dosing: BRS 2 part and hybrid balling method, kalk is dosed 24/7 with a Versa
Return Pumps: 2 x 7.0 Sicce SDC WiFi pumps
Controller: Apex A3 Pro
Skimmer: Reef Octopus Elite 150 with Avast Skimmate Locker
Other Filtration: Ice Cap in sump Algae Turf Scrubber (added 09/23)

Let's get some pics going and will share my thoughts on each item for this build in future posts. This build is, in essence, 16 years in the making and the title comes from a conversation my wife and I had while moving the tank in. I will share that story later when I post the move in pics but for now:

She said, "The things we do for a hobby. For. A. Hobby!"
My response, "It's a lifestyle."

Lifestyle? That’s a better reply than mine. I always say it’s a disease

1 kid. He’s 6

When we got married, the new house wasn’t ready. It was over a month behind schedule so we had to bum around with friends for a little bit since our house sold way quicker than expected

New setup looks great. Why did you make the change away from the AI blades?

I’m a huge equipment nut and lighting is my favorite to mess around with. The Blades were fantastic and I kept 1. I tried to keep three and may still. I just have to get a way to put a Blade on each side of the Radions

Tank is filling in great! Really loving the “sand all blown to the overflow side” look

Just doing a water change and thought you know spsick would probably appreciate me fixing the sand. So I created a bunch of accidental frags to get to this point lol

It’s only 22” tall so we turned it on its side to get through the doors. Walls took a decent beating though at the bottom of the stairs.

I dose calcium carbonate which is also known as chalk. SunnyX has an awesome write up on here. I’ve been dosing it for 7-8 years to my tanks to help clean them up
