I am curious on some members thoughts on these. As i have been looking to purchase 1 if the reviews are as good as they seem. I was also wondering if the dc-6000 could be turned down enough for a 55g.

For the price you can't beat the dc12000. I run one on my skimmer and you can dial it down nicely.
I've had a DC 6000 for about 9 months. Flawless. It ran externally as a closed loop for 7 months and since july has been submerged and running st 40%. Zeronissues.
Good call :thumb:I'm going with the reef octopus version from coral view just because of the 2 year warranty and service they supply.
Hey Dodger what kind of skimmer do you run it on? I have a big old downdraft 6' one and this pump definitely does the job. A buddy printed me a nice pinwheel for the DC12000, I am probably going to convert the skimmer over to a recirc.
I had the 12000 for a while on my 120 for sump return..... Great pump, only issue I had was keeping a hose connected to the output. It came loose and shot water straight up and all over the bottom stand area. I quickly removed and sold it. I'm back to Iwaki for now which is rock solid.
Mine is hard plumbed PVC with 1-1/4" female adapters on the pump
