I tried a search but the search terms are broad. Would love to see pics or clever/ unique ideas of ways to hang an led fixture. I am on the verge of convincing my sig other that I need them but if it is not appealing it ain't happnin know what I mean:squigglemouth:

I have a small cube (solona) with no hood and though about a small shelf type piece that matches the stand with the fixture underneath that could possible flip up out of the way for maintenance? That way I could possibly hide the cord in the wall?

Thanks!

Forget DIY, IMO just get a aquatic life light stand from Marine Depot for $111 (shipped)

that is ok I think it would look better if it wasnt so tall. you could even run the cords on the arms also and they wouldnt just be hanging across like that.

Like this kinda?

This is the wife's tank. And it was HER idea to do the shelf 'thing'. I like it actually.

thanks dallas exactly like that! if not too much trouble when you have a chance to post some more pics of it I would surely appreciate it! it looks like that tank is a little smaller than mine and I am thinking the depth I need to make the shelf may make it look odd.thanks!

Quite simple. We've got an ecoxotic strip mounted on it. And while I wanted a better mounting setup, this doesn't look bad.

That's about it. There's a DIY site giving instructions on a REAL floating shelf with no brackets visible. But I didn't want to go through the trouble.

Can't remember the site tho

10 bucks at home depot for some conduit, plus 10 minutes of assembly is what I would do, but without the right tools, buying one may be the better option.

I did the DIY thing using 3/4" electrical conduit that I bought at home depot and had them bend it for me. I too have a solana and it worked pretty well. I brought it home, painted it black, drilled holes in it and hung my light.

On my new build, I'm ordering T-slot aluminium with the appropriate hardware to fabricate the light tree. I think it's going to look good and it will be clean as well. The added benefit of T-slot is that you can, in some cases, hide all power and / or control wires pretty easily. Good luck.

no doubt he did an excellent job on that one I guess the hanging part doesnt do it for me. if the fixture was direct mounted without the wire hangers it would be much cleaner IMO. thanks for the replies!
