I’m running (2) 250 watt 14k Hamilton along with a 10k in the center in a 5 foot 155 gallon tank. Its been around 18 months and the 14k’s have probably been running around 5 hours a day on average (I gradually ramped up their time when starting up the tank) and the center 10k bulb runs around 3 hours a day. I think it is time to change bulbs; however, Hamilton bulbs are discontinued. Any thoughts on the Ushio 10k? What is the visual difference between the Hamilton and Ushio for those of you who may have used them? These are all mogul.

Thank you

I just noticed that Iposted this in the wrong thread. Mods, please move to lighting.

I think Aqua Bright Solution is the last place on Earth that sells them lol. I just bought 3 bulbs from them, received them last week.

I will probably order more bulbs later this year, for fear they will be extinct one day.

I have only been able to find Ushio 10k in my searches. Thanks for the source.

Yes the selection is very limited, I had to switch from 14k to 20k bulbs. They told me they were waiting for re-stock, but I ordered 20k for fear of having nothing. They reply promptly if you send them a msg to enquire. Good luck.

Ushio 10k grows corals like a champ but is a little yellow looking. It's a little more white on an electronic ballast. I like the Ushio 20k. You're going to want to run a lot of blue supplements with the 10k to balance it out..... unless you're going for the sunlight look.

Thanks for that advice. I’m running these bulbs on reefbrite fixtures with xho’s on a reefbrite ballast. Hopefully that tones down the yellow.
