I have to different types of sand. It might be going into my 180 gallon tank that is cycling now. It will be a predator tank. I've read different reviews on Google but want a seasoned persons advice. One type is very fine the other not so much.

The very fine stuff can end up blowing around which is the usual complaint with it.

I thought so. My girlfriends 11 y.o wants a freshwater aquarium. Probably won't have any wave makers or any such thing to blow sand around. Would it work for that?

Can't speak on it. Haven't gone the freshwater route however doesn't seem like an issue.

Awesome
Thank you for your advice.
If you end up cranking your flow strong enough to blow around, you can always add another layer of coarse.
