Craaaaaaaaap. I've tried looking for a 9002 and couldn't find one ! And are you sure about quietness ? Everyone I've seen who's owned a CAD 50 Elite says its dead quiet. Oh, did you try fitting it in the first chamber without the mounting option ? I've already ordered it.

The 9002 is still out there. I didn't try removing the bracket because it needs it to be positioned at the right height. This skimmer isn't tall enough to sit on the bottom and not be too deep. You might be able to remove the bracket and use some egg crate or something to keep the skimmer up at the right height.

True... Hmmmm... Think it would be ok in the 2nd chamber ? I like the 1st because the water level has to stay consistent for it to flow over, and the water has to come up through the skimmer to get to the 2nd.. I'll try and find a way.

I ran the cad in the second compartment for a while and it was micro bubble city. You need the water to flow over that first weir to get the bubbles out. Although the guy I bought my solana from was running a sponge in between the second and third compartment which would help with the bubbles. But could also be a nitrate factory too.
The 9002 is rated up to 50 gal. The noise factor isn't significant between the two. I've tried 3 different nano skimmers and all are louder than my Swc 230 extreme on my DT.

How long did you run it for ? Was it the Elite ? I've heard the tunze feels really cheaply made too.

I only ran it for several weeks. It probably could have needed more breaking in time. I could never get it dialed in. I don't know if it is the elite or not. I didn't know there was an option. I just bought the one CAd had at reefapalooza. As far as build quality, Tunze is quality. IMO, there aren't many brands in this hobby that you can use the words trust and quality in the same sentence, but Tunze is one of them. What makes people think this one is cheap is the collection cup that comes with it. Its not very substantial but that doesn't matter to us cause that cup won't fit in our tank:) the solana needs the modified collection cup from in tank which is also a quality product.

I got it to fit in the first chamber ! Had to sand it down a bit, even though it's really snug it's in there lol.

This skimmer is awesome. Dead quiet, efficient, no microbubbles, sits just out of sight in the front section. I'm highly impressed.

Here's a tank shot also. I know I know, the light is slightly crooked, I moved it around to take the pics. All coral are in, also added tigger pods. Tank was already blooming with natural pods from liverock in my 8 gallon, but I added some more anyway. The clownfish probably won't stay, but I'm not sure since I love the little guy.

Current livestock :
Green pocilopora
Ponape birdsnest
Green maze brain
Armor of God's, gobstoppers, vivid rainbows, lemon zippers, utter chaos
Green and purple branching hammer
Branching frogspawn
Purple plating monti
Green and purple plating monti
Green bubble tip anemone
Ocellaris clown

All coral are in the tank, they're loving every bit of it. Bought a new extremely colorful green and purple frogspawn. Also picked up a misbar clown for my little buddy, and a baby mandarin, which is oddly still.

Pics are a bit hard because of algae on the glass, and the shimmer on the kessil throws shadows on the corals as I'm taking them. And yes, my tank is packed with copepods, I also added a refugium in the back to make sure the population stays stable.

I decided to keep regular occies for a while, until I can find a beautiful long tentacle or sebae anemone for the skunk clowns.

Update on all coral :
2P magician PE's
Red and turquoise Acans
1P Seduction PE
1P Ecstasy zoa

Ordered a massive blue green and purple acanthophylia brain last night from live aquaria, on it's way now. Will be here by tomorrow morning.
