Hello everyone,
My name is Rachelle and I am very, very new to reef keeping. So new in fact that I am currently just working on planning my reef tank! I have a 40 gallon sea view acrylic tank that I have kept Mbuna Cichlids in for many years. The tank is very scratched on the inside, due to a mishap with my little cousin and a magnet cleaner . So my first step once I rehome the three remaining fish is to get the scratches out. I am probably going to be looking for a lot of advice over the next couple months as I work on getting each piece to get everything started!

I'm pretty handy so I was also considering getting my hands on a 40 breeder glass, drilling that and then turning my acrylic into a sump since it's already messed up. I love my cousin but I wanted to cry that day.

Yes, all the research is making my head swim! There is so much to learn. I am so excited!

How difficult is it to drill acrylic for a overflow?

Its very easy to drill Acrylic. Just get yourself a good quality hole saw and go slow. When you get almost all the way thru ease up on the pressure and the RPM's on the drill and you will be fine.

Welcome to the community. Careful, once you take the plunge, it's hard to resist the temptations. Reeding can be addictive.
