Hello everyone! I am setting up my first saltwater tank. It is a Red Sea Reefer 250. It's a 65 gallon tank including the sump. I currently have the display tank filled with saltwater, rock work done, sand in place, but I do not have the sump up and running yet. I may have some questions with the sump as I am not very familiar with organizing one. I have purchased all the equipment for the tank and am planning on a mixed reef tank.

Here's a list of my equipment:
-Red Sea Reefer 250 (black)
-Radion xr15w pro gen 4 (2)
-RMS mount for xr15w (2)
-Ecotech marine vortech mp40qd
-40 lbs of pukani dry rock
-40 lbs of caribsea Fiji pink live sand
-Reef octopus 150-int protein skimmer
-Reef octopus Varios 2 dc pump
-200w fine heater
-Ecotech marine reef link

Livestock ideas: ocellaris clownfish pair, blue tang, blue/green reef chromis (4), cleaner shrimp, diamond watchman goby, not sure on what else, suggestions welcome!

I already have a small issue with the caribsea Fiji pink live sand being moved out of place from the vortech mp40qd. The highest setting I can go without disturbing the sand is about 40%. I have read that the sand will be harder to move once there is more life and detritus build up in the sand when the tank is more developed. I would love to get some more thoughts on this issue, though.

All in all, let me know how I am doing and any advice, missing equipment, etc. I am excited to get going and will give you guys updates on the tank. I will likely have many questions because of my inexperience in the marine hobby although I have done lots of research. I thank you guys in advice for the advice--Thanks!

Here are some pictures of the current setup:

Welcome to R2R. My suggestion is to take what you have here and use it to start your very own Member's Tank thread. It's a great place to document your build. Again, welcome @Lucas Lembke

Welcome
Reefers are nice
Adjust the wave maker higher
40% is good i don’t know why you would want more
With a good return pump the return flow will add to the overall flow in your tank

You might want to look into getting a good skimmer

I have the reef octopus classic 150 int skimmer and have heard good things

Welcome to R2R.
Nice tank. You're off to a great start with what you have so far.
Every time I see one of these 250s starting up makes me want to set up a second tank.
Have you seen this thread on the Red Sea Reefer series of tanks?
There is a lot of very good info in there and many tanks the same size as yours if you need some tips on setup.

I would get a splitter for the return and a higher flow return pump to spread that chaotic flow to all corners of the tank.

On your livestock list - I'd skip the blue tang in a 3 ft, tank.
The rest of the list looks like a good start.

Would you guys suggest getting a higher powered return pump other than the one I already have (varios 2) I could return it and get the varios 4 and if so why?
