well, been hit with some oddities in my tank. All three of my Acans have started to withdraw with the largest one showing significant skeleton. I did notice my newly added potters angel pick at it a few times, but it never looked at the other two small ones. I moved the large colony to the sump in the fuge to see if it would open up. it was there is low flow all night under the fuge light and didnt change. Hmmmm.....

tested the water last night too. Calcium was 480, Alk was 9.925, Mag was 1800? (must have screwed the test up) phosphate was 0.11. I didnt check my nitrates but will tonight.

Interesting you dont have a sandbed. One of the tanks at the lfs has been setup without a sand bed for ten+ years. The initial result that forms naturaly is really nice looking and doesnt collect ditritus. Im just not patient enough.

Thanks Carlson. I am loving it so far except for my plate staying put. Just a simple 5 minute vacuum weekly before my sock change.

So... I got my hands on a par meter. I was a bit surprised at my light so we r going to test some things. At 50% blue and 30% white. I was at 90 par on the bottom glass. Considerably less than my old system so im. Going to bump the lumentek up to 70/45% and see how the tank reacts. Could be why mh bta haven't been that happy and one went for a walk....

So somewhat of a disaster last night. It was late and I was feeding the corals out of a glass jar with a dropper and I accidentally tapped the top edge my tank with the glass jar and ended up with a quarter inch chip. I am so heartbroken right now.

Been tinkering with my lights. I have the blues at 10% for 30 mins in the evening. Blues are hard to take so I warmed these up with snapseed. The results are pretty spot on.

Awesome build, just a heads up I run bridge lux diy leds and have red and orange acans that have been holding color now for a couple months knock on wood. Also oddball question. I just got the s5, it being water resistant I decided to stick it in the tank to snap pics but it wouldn't take my finger inputs, just wondering if you've tried it yet with any luck.

UM.. I would not just stick it in the tank. they are water resistant but not meant to be used under water. more for a safety standpoint. the reason it didnt work was the water on the touch screen interferes with it sensing your finger. try putting a single drop on the screen and then messing with it and you will see what I mean.

issue with my acans... Water was toooo clean. they was starved.

Yea I've noticed that. If you look around the phone they actually did a pretty good job making it water resistant, I just rinsed it off afterwords. I have many rc cars that I made water Resistant to I know a bit about what to look for lol.

Skinz,

those would be my Pickupman's Space Invaders. They grow quite well for me. and NO, I wont be entering those into the grow out contests. they are just too prolific for me.

Hello Salty Water

Major Lesson Learned last night. Corals dont do quite so well when your salinity is 1.032 or 42.5 ppt. Why was it so high you ask? Because I calibrated my Probe and my refracto with OLD calibration solution. YUP.. not a good idea. Figured it was sealed up so it was good. NOT! I got some zoas in last week and half melted in just a few days. I checked every param and all were SPOT ON. My orange plate was looking poor and so was my elegance. (i may end up losing it). On a whim I went and ordered some new Pinpoint solution and low and behold i was WAAAAY off. I had to re-calibrate twice to believe the reading.

so, I have over 12 hours exchanged about 20 gallons of tank water for straight RODI. use my ATO to sort of dose it over a period of time and then id pump a bucket out. I am sitting right at 36 ppt now so I need to lower it a little bit more tonight when I get back home. Ill suck a few gallons out and let the ATO make it back up.

Brother reef... actually since I calibrated both at the same time... yes. I haven't recalibrate the refractometer yet. But will tonight. Just trying to get the tank stable...
