Hi every one I have also wanted a predatory fish that’s reef safe and am trying to find one, my stocking list is….
1 yellow tang 3.5 inches
1 purple tang 4.5 inches
1 blue hippo tang 4.5 inches
1 splendid dottyback 2.5 inches
2 clown fish 2 and 3 inches
1 coral beauty angelfish 3 inches
1 mandarin goby 2 inches

Would a small stingray work if I made space for him on the sand bed?

i cant think

What kind would not mess with my mandarin goby
Nothing will mess with a Dragonet, however your other fish are at risk.
Dragonets are safe as their slime coat is poisonous but your clowns and dottybacks are at risk of predation.

It’s a long and wide tank with filtration at the max.
Rays want 8’ tanks at the minimum. And they’re bound to get harmed by the corals even off the sandbed.
A small stingray will grow fast unfortunately and you’ll have to rehome it without stressing it (which is a nightmare in itself).

The rule with an eel .
If it can fit in their mouth. .
It will eventually end up in their mouth
A spiny eel dosent eat fish they are derpy but I think its cute. But if you get a spiny eel you can have more than one for that big of a tank, as long as the fish is not as small as a neon tetra lol but you should be good if you get him

The issue is that a ‘spiny eel’ is a small fresh water species whilst we’re dealing with morays which grow huge and will take out fish big enough to fit in their mouths and pretty much all inverts.

There are eels that won’t touch fish at all which are called Snake Eels. But these are relatively uncommon and even when seen go for fairly high prices.
