Purple tang with HLLE help!

Some background info:
Tank has been going through ick, flukes, etc. I have gotten rid of all recently.
It is my display tank

I am leaving for vacation Friday morning, so I need instructions that I can give to the tank sitter (my dad).

I am positive this is HLLE, from the short amount of research I’ve done on it, it seems like it’s from lack of nutrients? Maybe because he was barely eating when I had copper in there?

I'm no professional, but I would just ensure Good water and food quality for that fish and keep monitoring. Especially if your leaving in a couple days...

How long you had that fish in your DT?
If you finished treatment, I’d start some carbon going and start feeding him even if slow.
Unless he still requires treatment.
Stabilizing r the system while your gone may be safest route.

Yes, this is HLLE and nothing to worry about while gone as its a condition and not a disease which causes pits and flesh missing mainly in tangs, angels and some rabbitfish. It is often caused by poor water quality, high use of carbon, poor water quality (elevated nitrate and ammonia) and inadequate/poor diet. It is not life threating in any way but offers secondary infection in some cases.
Maintaining GOOD water quality and diet are often the fixes and with severe cases, some healing.
Some foods to feed tang are :
LRS herbivore diet
Formula 2 flake and frozen
TDO Pellets
small plankton
Hikari Marine cuisine
Ocean nutrition veggie diet
spirulina brine shrimp
mysis shrimp
Prime reef
Nori seaweed basted with garlic extract

Add selcon vitamins to foods occasionally. Dont be too obsessed food requirements until you return

I don’t see severe HLLE in this fish, just a bit of epithelial thinning. However, it’s probably going to progress given the species. Don’t use carbon on the tank, that causes HLLE in tangs. Here is my article about this:

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
