I am down grading skimmers. I am looking for opinions between the Reef octo 200 elite cone and the Regal 200 space saver.

other than the build quality of the elite, what am I getting that would make me choose it over the regal?

Taking brand names out of the equation, I would go with a skimmer that is a TRUE cone and one that doesn't have the pump inside the body providing you have the room for it. It's a PITA you will learn to loathe. And not very efficient, nor does it justify the extra cost. And I would go with one that uses a good DC pump so you have an added dimension to getting it tuned to your system.

If you like the Ultra Reef Skimmers (and I see no reason not to) the Typhoon UKD-200 would be the one I'd go with and it comes with a Sicce Pump which isn't a bad thing. It looks like a nice rig to me if you have the room in your sump.

I own an RO Elite 150 external, but can't use it or talk about it yet since I'm STILL waiting for the stupid tank...so far, it looks cool.:zany-face:
