Seaweed stakes and reef roots: What do you anchor your macro algae to?

There are some stunning macroalgae tank that have been amazingly sculpted by some of the R2R members such @Tigahboy, @inland_reef, and others. The layout and selection of algae are often points of discussion, but let’s consider how the algae is anchored. Is it possible to use rock, sand, PVC, wood, or other material to attach the algae or even have it free floating? What do you anchor your macro algae to in your tank? Please let us know if you have recommendation or tips for keeping macro algae in place!

Mine just infests the fuge and may self anchor when it fills the space and encounters substrate (rocks, overflow teeth). When I used to have Caulerpa it would attach itself to sand and rock and once established it was almost impossible to remove it manually.

If I ever tried to anchor it (rubber bands, wedging it into rock structure) that almost always failed for me.

Glue to rubble then wedge or epoxy to rock... Or bury the piece in sand for the most part. A few are just worked into holes/crevices.
